The 5S Lean Tool
5S Lean Tool Explained
5S is actually a lean tool that originated in Japan’s highly organized manufacturing plants where it was seen that if each production stage
follows the 5S principle the production will be much faster and less prone to
stoppages and wastes.
The term “5S” comes from five Japanese words:
Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu and Shitsuke
In English also these get translated very nicely as 5S too 🙂 Now let’s briefly go over what each stage entails via this info-graphic :
The 5S Lean Tool can be used by anyone in virtually any Industry type and is one of those Lean Tools that brings fast results, a sense of joy and organization in the employees with faster audits, better ergonomics and safety for all concerned,
While i have covered the basics of the 5S theory via this simple info-graphic blog, however, at the ProSigma’s Six Sigma Certification workshops (both online and offline) you will find that you will learn this and more by actually doing. We believe most of the Learning needs to be by experience and interactivity and our Lean Focus is simply unparalleled in India, and we make it available via a range of Lean Six Sigma programs designed to cater to every level of professional.
However, before we conclude this blog, for those who are new to Lean Six Sigma and are interested in more such topics do visit the rest of ProSigma’s blog section, or join one of our premium (paid) range of programs,
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
and, Advanced students will like the following:
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
- Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification
There is even a (mostly) free Lean Six Sigma White Belt Certification program, for those who are interested in intro to the Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
